I’ve been writing for guitar in last few months trying to take advantage of Mannes College and its amazing guitar performance program. Of the larger projects started , A guitar quartet or trio,  a solo work for guitar and planning a Cycle for Tenor and Guitar.  I completed a setting of Bright Star, working for  premiere in May of this year.

Bright Star
Bright star, would I were steadfast as thou art —
Not in lone splendour hung aloft the night
And watching, with eternal lids apart,
Like Nature’s patient, sleepless Eremite,
The moving waters at their priestlike task
Of pure ablution round earth’s human shores,
Or gazing on the new soft-fallen mask
Of snow upon the mountains and the moors —
No — yet still stedfast, still unchangeable,
Pillow’d upon my fair love’s ripening breast,
To feel for ever its soft swell and fall,
Awake for ever in a sweet unrest,
Still, still to hear her tender-taken breath,
And so live ever — or else swoon to death.

Posted as requested the last 2 movements of my brass quintet. Special thanks  to Kevin Virgilio for putting the amazing group together.

Well let the hard work begin working on a reduction of “A black woman speaks”,  starting first rehearsal of  ”To  S lava” and meeting with the lovely Angie Dinkilman for some work on “The bells.” Big day Ahead long weeks to come.  Still need a violinist for the Bells.

Working on putting the String Trio together for performance in October so far so good

Working on a few thing still form the summer finishing up the songs of loss, started a guitar piece and also in the middle of a clarinet duo. Still bitting to write a killer viola piece. dont want to have more the 3 items on my plate though.

One of Reich’s better pieces, nice and concise and well balanced.

Great Performance on Youtube

Will post more next week after the move and I start getting my ball rolling

I was thinking of Mario Davidovsky today, because I had not spoken to him for a about a week.  Kind of worried but this made me wanted to check out some more of his music found this page with a gorgeous chamber piece of his check it out.
